Welcome to the Journal!

My journal highlights my personal and professional adventures as a full-time wedding photojournalist! I absolutely love being a wedding photographer! My "job" is to hang out with awesome couples on the biggest day of their lives! Throughout my career I've photographed city weddings with 300 guests and small intimate Riu Ochos Rios Jamaica destination weddings with about 30 guests! My wedding photography studio is based out of Lewes Delaware, although I've traveled all over the world including Kingston Jamaica and Montego Bay Jamaica to photograph two events with Prince Charles!!!

So if you want to hang out on your wedding day, please drop me a line...even if you don't have a date set, wedding reception site picked or even if there is no fat rock on your finger! ;)

So I needed to post this one teaser from Angie and Steve’s Salero wedding in Rehoboth Beach Delaware.  I was watching this scene unfold.  Ang and Steve were moving around the dance floor as I saw Ang’s Dad reaching into his pocket. Wait for it….wait for it….BANG!  This shot has definitely become one of my fave wedding photojournalist shots!!!

So after spending almost 3 months traveling the US and in San Diego it was time to bring Photog Shootout back East again.  Why not host our first Photog Shootout event in 2010 in the city where it all started?  Good ole Philadelphia!  We ending up renting out the Basement at Power Plant Productions. The theme was “High Fashion Burglar” and this workshop was all about off-camera flash, gels and posing.  It is so great to push our creativity as photographers in a low pressure environment.

I can usually tell from the first email if “its gonna work out” with me and the couple.  In this case…I knew it to be true!  Meghan, Jamie and I finally met up and hit it off immediately.  Meghan admitted her addiction to me and I won over Jamie’s heart by showing him the custom metal prints.  ;)   Had a blast taking their Rehoboth Beach engagement pictures and very much looking forward to their wedding at Winterthur this October!

“Hi Rob,

So, I must admit that long before my fiance & I were engaged… my friends and I were admiring your website, especially the Trash the Dress pictures. I started to read about you and… my fiance is actually from Milton, DE too! When I showed him the website and the trash the dress photos… he said “I know them from life-guarding!” when he saw the pictures of John and Stacy. After that, we began to browse your site relatively frequently (I think Jamie was looking for more of his friends while I just liked the pictures). My fiance’s name is Jamie Walls– he also has a sister Emily Walls, not sure if you know either of them. So, now we are engaged and looking at an October 2010 wedding. We decided that we still love your pictures and would love to try to have you shoot our wedding if possible! We don’t have an exact date yet, still looking at venues, but we are hoping for Oct 9, 16, or 23 of 2010. I just wanted to email you and get an idea of your schedule and if you are already booked for any of those dates! Oh, also, in terms of venues… we are looking everywhere from Winterthur to Baywood Greens… to Long Beach Island, NJ… to Philly… to Mt. Washington, New Hampshire… so I am also wondering if you can give me an idea of your pricing if you have to travel!

Thanks so much, I hope to hear from you soon!

Meghan”

Meghan’s failed attempt to judo throw Jamie.  It actually backfired.  ;)

“My name is Angie Choma and I am newly engaged! WOOO HOOOO!!!  Sitting here on my little cloud of happiness I am trying to piece together my DE beach wedding for next summer.  Thanks for your time and know that I am a big fan of your craft.  You have an amazing eye and true talent for capturing all of the beautiful moments in a wedding.  If it doesn’t work out for you to be my photographer, you still have a fan in me!”  This was the first and last sentences of the initial email I received from Angie back in the day.  Its always a good when a bride-to-be like my photos.  ;)

So we finally met up for Angie and Steve’s engagement pictures in downtown Lewes Delaware.  Lewes is such an awesome little town.  So many places to take pictures and all with in walking distance.  We had a great time strolling the streets, sharing some laughs and chatting about their wedding!  I’m very much looking forward to their Salero wedding in June!
