Whoever said being a photographer wasn’t a dangerous job? With all the traveling I do as a photographer…I increase my chances of “running” into idiot drivers!
I T-Boned him going 50 MPH…launched over the median strip….did a 180 degree…100 foot mid air flight and landed in a ditch that was about 200 feet from the collision point! It was one of the craziest things I’ve ever experienced! Well one of the top 3 anyway…I can’t make up my mind between the near death freak staph infection in my sinuses….or rolling off a cliff in the mountains in my buddy’s Jeep and now this high speed collision!

Of course I jumped out of my truck…still in shock…I grabbed my camera and started shooting pictures! I’m going to submit these pictures…and try to promote my business! lol
Both the other driver and myself are fine.
Thought I’d share…

Talk to your prospective photographer! Be honest with them!
If you really love the work of a particular photographer but find out that they are a bit over your budget…talk to them! Tell them your situation. I’d rather have someone try to work something out with me…as apposed to never calling me back after I send over the price list…and have them settle with another photographer because of price! Would you rather settle with a photographer or work something out with the photographer that you really want! Most photographers have set prices and packages. This is intended to help the b&g see exactly what they are getting with each package and if this works with their budget. If you have to shave off an hour or two of the coverage or downgrade one an album….do it!!! Don’t settle…cut cost in other areas! I know The Knot is telling you to spend a certain percentage of your money to flowers….your dress….your photography…but your pictures are one of the few things that will help you remember your wedding day!
For instance a b&g really wanted me to shoot their wedding…they were on a strict budget though. When we talked, we got along great…and would have had a blast working together. They ended up going with the other guy…because his up front costs were cheaper. Then after the wedding the b&g found out that the prints were 3 times as much as mine!!!! So they ended up not getting their 1st choice….and ended up spending more money then they would have if they went with me!!
I could have rearranged and customized a package for them…no worries! I’m willing to shoot a wedding…minus the cost of an album…then after the wedding…have the b&g purchase an album. There are so many ways to do it. But they weren’t totally honest with me.
So I can’t stress enough…talk to your prospective photographer!
